▪ Police arrested six Thursday after a crime spree that started in Missouri and wound through Swansea, O’Fallon and Lebanon before coming to an end in East St. Louis.
A resident of a Swansea neighborhood noticed suspicious people looking in cars and called police. It was soon discovered that the suspects were riding in a car stolen in an armed robbery across the river.
The suspects, who turned out to be juveniles, allegedly stole an SUV and trailer from a metro-east grocery store parking lot, lost the trailer fleeing from police and crashed the vehicle into a security gate at an O’Fallon car dealership. Two of the boys involved in the case were arrested the, four others were caught later in East St. Louis.
▪ The family of a hunter from Dupo who has been missing for more than two weeks fears Chris Stasiak may be the victim of foul play.
Police, despite repeated searches in the woods where Stasiak was reportedly dropped off the last time he was seen and in a nearby canal, have found no evidence of what happened to him.
According to Stasiak’s brother, the hunter left his money, his disability card and other personal items behind. He said his brother never would have willfully disappeared without those things.
