Northwest Fire Department responds to rollover

The Northwest Fire Department responded to a van that rolled over Sunday afternoon at Hillside Lane and Highway 13 near Kmart.

Gary Letner, 53, of Belleville, lost control of the 1973 Chevrolet, suffered a small contusion on his head, and got out of the vehicle through the back doors without assistance, Fire Chief Chester Borkowski said.

After the rollover, firefighters plugged a small leak in the van’s gas tank and redirected traffic at the North Belt West and Illinois 13 intersection, Borkowski said.

Authorities are still looking into the cause of the accident.
