Temperatures drop dramatically Wednesday

Record-setting warm weather earlier in the week will become just a memory Wednesday in the metro-east.

The high will be 26 degrees cooler than Tuesday, topping out at 40 under cloudy skies, according to the National Weather Service. It will see even cooler with winds gusting at up to 31 mph.

The high of 66 Tuesday smashed the all-time record high of 60 for Feb. 2 in the St. Louis metropolitan area, set in 2003. Wednesday’s temperature is one degree cooler than the average high for Feb. 3, 41.

Wednesday night, the low will be 23 under mostly cloudy skies.

On Thursday, it will be sunny with a high of 41. Overnight, skies will clear up as the low drops to 25.

It will warm up a little bit Friday with a high of 47 under mostly sunny skies.

Clouds will move in Friday night when the low will be 30.
