Cold Friday, more snow expected overnight and into the weekend

The metro-east is expected to get a break from snow during the Thursday rush hours.

But there is a good chance for more flakes to fall overnight, which could make getting around tough Friday morning.

The high Thursday will be 28 under decreasingly cloudy skies, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a 40 percent chance of snow showers overnight when the low will drop to 22.

There is a 20 percent chance snow will linger into Friday morning. After that, skies will be cloudy with a high of 36.

Friday night it will be bitterly cold with a low of 9 under partly cloudy skies. Winds of up to 24 mph will push the wind chill factor well below zero.

Bitter cold will last into the weekend, with a high of only 20 Saturday under sunny skies.

Saturday night, the low will be 15 with a 30 percent chance of snow.

There is a 40 percent chance of snow Sunday, when the high will be 28.

Sunday night, the low will be 24 with a 40 percent chance of snow.
