IDOT planning lane restrictions around Poplar Street Complex

The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to have daytime single-lane closures in the Poplar Street Complex beginning Monday.

The restrictions are scheduled to be on both eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 55/64 from the Poplar Street Bridge to the 13th Street/Tudor Avenue ramps through Friday, Feb. 19, IDOT said.

Left and right lanes of I-55/64 and the 13th Street/Tudor Avenue ramps are set to be closed one at a time to conduct required deck inspections on the bridges carrying the routes. A minimum of one lane in each direction is planned to be maintained during the lane restrictions, IDOT said.

All lanes are planned to be opened on eastbound lanes between 3 and 6 p.m. All westbound lanes are planned to be opened between 6 and 9 a.m., IDOT said.

IDOT said to expect significant delays and encouraged motorists to take alternate routes. Traffic control devices are planned to be used to help motorists making their way through the work zone.
