A Washington Park man was sentenced to 16 years in prison for the rape of a 16-year-old girl.
Dayhna Samuel, 41, was sentenced on Wednesday after pleading guilty to the charge of criminal sexual assault of a family member. Samuel sexually assaulted the girl, identified in the charges as T.S., in July 2014. He pleaded guilty in December 2015.
The case was investigated by East St. Louis Detective Carlos Coleman and prosecuted by Bernadette A. Schrempp, Assistant St. Clair County State’s Attorney and the Children’s Justice Division Chief.
The sentencing range was eight to 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. St. Clair County Circuit Judge Robert Haida sentenced Samuel.
