Belleville man to serve 30 years for murdering Swansea woman

A 40-year-old Belleville man was sentenced to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for murdering a Swansea woman on March 1, 2013.

Kristofer M. McDavid of 2915 Otto St., Belleville, learned of his 30-year stint in prison for murdering Carmen R. Boyd of Swansea from St. Clair County Circuit Judge Robert Haida on Feb. 9. The murder occurred on Marcella Drive in Swansea. Court records indicate he used “a sharp object” to kill Boyd.

He stabbed her in the face and neck with the intent to kill/injure her, court records state.

The case against McDavid was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Debbie Phillips. It was investigated by the Major Case Squad and the Swansea Police Department.

St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly thanked the Major Case Squad and Phillips for their efforts in the case. McDavid is currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail.
