▪ Police in East St. Louis and Washington Park are investigating the tragic cases of two dead children and an injured baby.

At 1:30 a.m. Wednesday a three-year-old girl was taken to Cardinal Glennon Hospital with what doctors determined to be a skull fracture and a cracked femur.

Meanwhile police are investigating the deaths of a three-year-old boy found dead at the bottom of a flight of stairs and an unresponsive five-month-old baby taken to the police station.

▪ A former Madison County teacher is going to spend a lot of time behind bars after being convicted of child molestation.

Jason Ehlers, 38, of Bethalto, was sentenced to 35 years in prison. He was a teacher in the Triad School District prior to being charged in 2014 in connection with the sexual abuse of eight children between the ages of 13 and 18.

▪ The latest of the seemingly never ending string of construction projects on Interstate 64 will begin Monday morning.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, one lane of the interstate will be shut down between Third Street and Tudor Avenue for a year to allow the construction of a new ramp from the Martin Luther King Bridge to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 55-70.
