Overnight closures planned for westbound I-55/64

As part of the ongoing work along westbound Interstate 55/64 east of the Poplar Street Bridge, overnight lane closures on the highway are planned, the Illinois Department of Transportation said.

Intermittent closures of all westbound lanes of I-55/64 from 3rd Street and Tudor Avenue approaching the Poplar Street Bridge in East St. Louis are scheduled between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. Wednesday, IDOT said. These closures will be limited to 15 minute periods each and are necessary to remove existing overhead sign structures.

Work began on Monday in the area as IDOT builds a new ramp connecting the eastbound traffic from the Martin Luther King Bridge to southbound Illinois 3.
