▪ Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a Freeburg woman Monday.

Georgia A. Sauzek died when her Ford Edge ran off Illinois 15 and overturned as it passed beneath the Frank Scott Parkway overpass.

It was the third crash at a west Belleville intersection of Frank Scott Parkway Monday evening.

▪ Friends and family are remembering a 24-year-old St. Libory man who died in a motorcycle crash.

Blake Lickenbrock, 24, crashed Sunday night on Illinois 15.

He was a lineman with Ameren and was recalled as someone that was well liked and knew how to get things done by his former instructor.

▪ A Belleville woman who pretended to have terminal cancer in order to scam supporters out of thousands of dollars in donations has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Alissa Jackson collected more than $50,000 through an on-line fundraiser, according to victims. A mother of five, she lied about her health for two years.

She pleaded guilty to two counts of theft by deception in December.

Alissa Jackson was sentenced to 3 years in prison. For two years the Belleville mother of five lied about her diagnosis of cancer. Supporters estimate Jackson received more than $35,000 in donations.
