Weather on election day: Sunshine, near-record high temperatures

Metro-east voters will enjoy near-record temperatures and sunny skies as they go to the polls across the metro-east Tuesday.

The high will be 78, according to the National Weather Service. That’s only three degrees short of the record of 81 set in 1971.

Tuesday night, the low will drop to 46 as a slight chance of thunderstorms moves into the area. There is a remote possibility that weather could become severe with the possibility of damaging winds and hail.

On Wednesday, the high will be 66 with sunny skies early and winds that gust up to 31 mph. Clouds will increase in the afternoon. But they’ll scatter again during the evening.

It will be decreasingly cloudy Wednesday night with a low of 42.

Skies will be sunny with a high of 62 Thursday. Winds will blow at up to 31 mph.

The low will be 38 Thursday night under mostly clear skies.
