Most St. Clair County Board incumbents win contested races

Incumbents in most of the competitive St. Clair County Board primary races were leading as 99 percent of St. Clair County results were reported. Results from the East St. Louis Board of Election Commissioners have yet to be reported.

In District 26 however, incumbent Larry Stammer is trailing in the Democratic primary to challenger Scott Tieman, who was listed as the 2016 candidate for the district on the St. Clair County Central Committee website.

Stammer, recently voted with Republican members of the County Board to bring oversight of MidAmerica Airport under the purview of the County Board. The measure was voted down by the predominantly Democratic County Board.

The District 25 Republican race was the only contested race not to include an incumbent.
