Warm, sunny — and very windy — Tuesday across the metro-east

It’s going to be warm and sunny — but windy — Tuesday in the metro-east.

The high will reach 71, about 14 degrees warmer than the average high of 57 for March 22 in the St. Louis metropolitan area. But a wind advisory is in effect from noon until 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Winds could gust at up to 45 mph from the south, which could make driving difficult, blow around light outdoor objects including lawn furniture and trash cans and potentially damage buildings.

The weather service has also issued a hazardous weather advisory, warning that metro-east residents shouldn’t do any outdoor burning Tuesday because of high winds and dry conditions. The advisory also warns of the possibility of thunderstorms Wednesday.

Tuesday night, skies will become mostly cloudy with a low of 54.

On Wednesday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers with the most likely time for rain coming after 4 p.m. The high will be 72 with winds of up to 32 mph.

The chance of wet weather will increase to 60 percent Wednesday night when the low will be 45. Winds will gust at up to 29 mph. There is a slight chance that showers could turn into thunderstorms.

There is a 40 percent chance of showers Thursday before 1 p.m. After that, temperatures will fall under mostly sunny skies. The high of 49 will come early. By 10 a.m., the temperature will drop to 45.

Skies will clear by Thursday night with the low dropping to 31.
