Green Mount Road north of Illinois 158 to have a lane closure Thursday

The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to have a daytime single lane closure on the bridge carrying Green Mount Road over Loop Creek, approximately 0.2 miles north of Illinois 158 (Mascoutah Avenue) in Belleville.

Southbound and northbound lanes of Green Mount Road are set to be alternately closed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday, weather permitting, IDOT said. Closures may possibly extend into Friday if the planned work is not able to be completed on Thursday.

A minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained during the lane restrictions.

The lane restrictions are needed to conduct required deck testing on the bridge, IDOT said.

Traffic delays are anticipated, and motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes, IDOT said.

Flaggers and traffic control devices will be utilized to assist motorists making their way through the work zone. IDOT asked motorists to be patient and use additional caution when traveling near and through the work zone.
