Don’t Miss This: Dismembered body identified by police
Don’t miss these top stories Wednesday on BND.com:
▪ Will she finally rest in peace?
Police on Tuesday revealed that they have finally positively identified a headless torso found in 2004 along Interstate 70 as the body of a missing woman.
Deanna D. Howland was 35 and from Alton. She was identified with DNA testing.
Police said she was unidentified for so long because Howland was estranged from her family at the time she disappeared so she wasn’t reported missing.
▪ Investigators are searching for clues in a pair of suspicious fires that happened in Belleville.
Two semi trucks parked about 30 feet apart caught fire early Monday. Belleville Fire Department Chief Tom Pour said it’s no coincidence the ignitions happened so close together at the same time.
Arson is suspected.
▪ Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers is opening a metro-east location.
The eatery will take over the former location of Johnny Rockets restaurant at 3320 Green Mount Crossing Drive.
The restaurant, which includes hot dogs and shoestring fries on its menu, will add a drive-thru window and will be capable of seating about 100 people.
