▪ Carol Vance, the infection prevention manager at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, was appointed to the National Education Committee for the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology for a three-year term. APIC’s mission is to prevent infection through education. According to a statement from the association, the 12-member committee “is responsible for planning, developing and implementing educational courses and programs that address identified educational needs related to infection prevention and control.”
▪ James R. Mendillo, a partner in the Belleville law firm Freeark, Harvey and Mendillo, was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court as chairman of the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Committee. The ARDC investigates allegations of attorney wrongdoing in Illinois. Mendillo has served on the ARDC since 2010 and was appointed vice chairman in 2013.
▪ Collinsville-based Madison County Sand, LLC earned a Rock Solid Excellence in Safety award during the Illinois’ Association of Aggregate Producers’ annual convention. Accepting the award were quarry managers Mark Maxey, Jim Koerkenmeier and Chris Higgins. Rock Solid is the highest honor given to businesses affiliated with the association and designates strong commitment to employee safety and health.
