Police on Tuesday identified the woman whose torso was found in 2004 in Missouri as Deanna Howland, 35, of Alton. Wednesday, it was learned that Howland—born Deanna Barker in Collinsville—was reported missing by her brother, Brian Barker, the Edwardsville police officer facing charges of burglary and arson.
A Belleville nursing home where an 85-year-old woman was found dead strapped to a wheelchair at the bottom of a stairway has a one-star rating. Swansea police are still looking for the man who allegedly entered a specialized living center shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday and tossed bleach into a night supervisor’s eyes. The description of the suspect is somewhat vague: The white main was wearing a trench coat, black pants and a Superman shirt. The night supervisor was not seriously injured.
A 5-year-old boy who police said walked away from his South Roxana home Wednesday afternoon was located shortly after he was reported missing.
