Showers, potentially strong thunderstorms in forecast for Easter Sunday

Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected on Easter Sunday in the metro-east.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook indicating that some of the storms over Missouri and Southern Illinois, including Madison, St. Clair and Monroe counties, could be strong. Winds could gust as high as 14 mph in the morning and 24 mph in the evening.

Following the scattered showers and storms, rain is likely after 3 p.m. Sunday. The high temperature Sunday will be near 68, and the low will be around 37.

Monday and Tuesday are expected to be sunny. The high temperature on Monday will be near 61, with a low around 39. Tuesday’s high could reach 66, with a low around 49.

The chance for showers and thunderstorms will return Wednesday when it will be mostly cloudy.

Showers are likely Wednesday evening and a thunderstorm is possible. The high temperature will be near 69, with a low around 53.
