IDOT to reduce U.S. 50 to one lane east of Salem

The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to reduce U.S. 50 to one lane at Brubaker Creek east of Salem to replace the existing bridge over the creek, the agency said.

Work on the project in Marion County is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, weather permitting, and be completed by mid-September, IDOT said.

Intermittent daylight lane closures on U.S. 50 are planned until temporary traffic signals are installed at the location, in order to maintain two-way traffic in the area.

Workers plan to replace the existing structure over the creek, IDOT said.
