MoDOT plans work, detour at I-44, I-55 interchange
The ramp from eastbound Interstate 44 to northbound Interstate 55 is set to close at 8 p.m. Friday for renovation work, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The ramp is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. Crews also are scheduled to close the ramp a second weekend, starting at 8 p.m. April 8 and reopening it by 5 a.m. April 11.
The planned work is part of rehabilitation work at the I-44 and I-55 interchange.
MoDOT plans to detour motorists from the I-44 to I-55 north ramp closure to southbound I-55 to Arsenal Street, where they will be able to make a u-turn to merge onto northbound I-55 and take it to eastbound I-44, the agency said.
During the two weekend closures, the ramps from eastbound I-44 to Lafayette Avenue and the ramp from Jefferson Avenue to eastbound I-44 also are set to be closed.
The detour for the Jefferson to eastbound I-44 ramp closure is to take Russell Boulevard to Gravois Avenue and get on eastbound I-44 at Gravois.
After April 11, one lane on the ramp from eastbound I-44 to northbound I-55, the ramp from eastbound I-44 to Lafayette, and the ramp from Jefferson to eastbound I-44 will remain closed until mid-May.
The work on the ramps is part of scheduled maintenance, MoDOT said. Crews are scheduled to remove the driving surface, make repairs to the concrete on the ramps, and replace joints.
