The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in that crash, Dye said. Accident reconstruction investigators arrived shortly after 6 a.m. and kept the ramp closed for an hour and a half.
In a separate motorcycle crash Friday morning, Douglas J. Landers, 23, of O’Fallon died, according to the coroner’s office.
The crash occurred Friday morning on Illinois 161 at Shiloh Station Road east of Belleville. Dye said an eastbound Nissan Armada began a left turn onto Shiloh Station Road, taking it into the path of a westbound motorcycle. The vehicles collided head-on.
Dye said Landers died at the scene. The man was wearing a helmet, Dye said.
The 48-year-old female driver of the SUV was not hurt in the crash.
The investigations of both crashes are pending.
