One in custody after vehicle burglary in Caseyville
Caseyville police say one man is in custody and another is still at large after responding to a reported motor vehicle burglary March 24.
According to a press release issued Wednesday by Caseyville police, officers arrived at the 1000 block of East O’Fallon Drive in reference to the vehicle burglary. According to the warrants, two men attempted to steal a silver 2013 Ford Edge and a green 2004 Ford Expedition — both vehicles owned by the same person. Police say both suspects fled the scene at 1090 East O’Fallon Drive in a truck, traveling westbound on East O’Fallon Drive. The suspect vehicle reportedly crashed more than a mile away at the intersection of East O’Fallon Drive and South Drive, and the driver of the suspect vehicle fled the crash scene on foot. The passenger, identified as Adam L. Tuttle, was taken into custody by responding officers without incident.
The state’s attorney’s office charged Tuttle, 26, of Collinsville, on March 31 on two felony counts of burglary and a traffic violation for leaving the scene involving property damage in connection to the March 24 incident. Police accuse Tuttle of leaving the scene of an accident involving a 1995 GMC Sonoma he was allegedly driving and the Ford Expedition. Tuttle’s bond was set at $40,000 and is currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail.
The driver of the suspect vehicle was identified by authorities as Nicholas A. Fuse, 25, of Troy. Police say Fuse is still at large as of Wednesday night. The state’s attorney’s office charged Fuse on two felony counts of burglary in connection to the same incident. Fuse’s bond was set at $50,000.
