Don’t Miss This: Major Case Squad searches for Cahokia killer

Don’t miss these top stories Thursday on BND.com:

▪ The Major Case Squad was activated Wednesday to investigate the murder of Leroy D. Short, 19, in Cahokia.

It was the second time in six months the special investigative unit was called to investigate a shooting death in the 100 block of Amelia Avenue.

▪ A fire Wednesday afternoon caused the Fairview Heights Best Buy electronics store to be temporarily closed.

According to fire department reports, the fire started in a trash compactor at about 1 p.m. The store was evacuated and, after smoke was cleared out, it was re-opened at about 3 p.m.

▪ Former Beatles singer and bass player Paul McCartney will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic band’s 1966 concert at Busch Stadium II with a solo show in St. Louis this summer.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced Wednesday that Sir Paul would play Busch Stadium III Aug. 13.

McCartney will be the fourth musical act to put on a concert at Busch Stadium
