The Red Onion will open in Belleville April 14
A building that once housed a Belleville culinary institution will again open its doors to customers next week.
According to kitchen manager David Keck, The Red Onion, located at 923 W. Main St. in Belleville, will open for lunch staring at 11 a.m April 14.
From there, the restaurant will serve lunch Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Keck said.
Remodeling in the building is still ongoing, but once that’s done, dinner will also be served.
The building formerly housed Flamingo’s Restaurant from 2014 to 2015. Before that, from 1976 to 2012, Maxwell’s Restaurant called the building home.
The News-Democrat first learned of The Red Onion when its owner approached city officials for a liquor license in March.
