Cooler temperatures Friday and Saturday, rain likely Sunday and Monday

It will be cool with partly sunny skies Friday across the metro-east.

The high will reach only 54, about seven degrees cooler than the average high temperature of 61 for this time of year in the St. Louis metropolitan area, according to the National Weather Service.

It will seem even cooler with winds that will gust up to 32 mph.

A freeze warning is in effect for Friday night into Saturday morning when the low temperature will drop to 29. Winds will blow from the northwest at up to 26 mph.

Skies will gradually clear from being mostly cloudy Friday night and will become sunny Saturday when the high will be 50.

There is a 20 percent chance of showers Saturday night when the low will be 42.

A 50 percent chance of thunderstorms is in the forecast for Sunday when the high will be 66. Winds will blow at up to 33 mph.

The chance of rain will increase to 70 percent Sunday night when the low will be 53.

There is a 60 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms in the forecast for Monday, which is the home opening game for the St. Louis Cardinals. The high will be 59.
