Cahokia firefighters tame burning house fire, described as “total loss”
Cahokia firefighters battled a fully involved house fire at 530 St. Leo Drive Monday evening.
Cahokia Fire Chief Stephen Robbins says firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 10 to 15 minutes at what appeared to be an abandoned residence. The call came in before 7 p.m. Monday.
The fire heavily damaged the front and side of the residence, including the living room and possibly the kitchen, Robbins says. Authorities on the scene described the home as "a total loss."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Cahokia Police Department also responded to the scene Monday night.
