St. Clair County to host second annual Armed Forces Ball

St. Clair County is planning to hold its second annual Armed Forces Ball on April 29 to honor past and present military service members.

Last year’s ball was attended by 400 people, including about 100 service members. So far a little more than 215 tickets have been sold for this year’s ball, said John Hughes, the St. Clair County director of Military Affairs.

Hughes said he expects to have at least 400 people attend this year.

Proceeds from the event is set to help programs that benefit morale, recreation and welfare of service members stationed at Scott Air Force Base as well as veterans organizations such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Hughes said.

Last year, $12,000 was donated to various programs and organizations — a number organizers hope to surpass, Hughes said.

The ball is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, at the Regency Conference Center at 400 Regency Park Drive in O’Fallon.

Organizers plan to have dinner and dancing, and black tie is optional.

Tickets are $100 and for more information call 618-825-2670.
