Don’t Miss This: Mohammed Abuharba convicted of murder

▪ A man accused of murdering his roommate over a dispute about a stolen television has been convicted by a St. Clair County judge.
Mohammed Abuharba shot William Harriel, Jr. in the back of the head in 2014. Harriel was found, dead, in the middle of Amelia Drive in Parkfield Terrace near Cahokia.
Abuharba was later charged with trying to arrange the murder of a witness in the case. That case has not yet been decided. He faces 20-60 years in prison when he is sentenced by Judge Zina Cruse on the murder charges May 31.
▪ Belleville West graduate and professional motorcycle racer Mark Weishaar will get to perform in front of his friends and family Saturday.
He’ll take part in a Supercross motorcycle race at the downtown St. Louis domed stadium.
According to Weishaar, who has been racing in the American Motorcycle Association Supercross Series for three years, he’s broken 10 bones while participating in the dangerous sport.
▪ St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department deputy and local barbeque veteran Kiwan Guyton has opened a new restaurant in Smithton.
Guyton this week began operation of Mr. BBQ’s Rib Shack at 106 N. Main St. in Smithton.
