Top BND videos: Highland man killed in crash; Dupo mom charged in murder rants about demon

▪  A 30-year-old Highland man — who was a Navy veteran and father of 4-year-old twins — died in a head-on crash between a semi and a passenger vehicle on U.S. 50 near Lebanon.

According to Illinois State Police reports, a Chevrolet HHR was westbound on U.S. 50 when the driver crossed the center line for unknown reasons.

▪  Mary Lockett, 36, of Dupo, was being transferred to a courtroom when she yelled and cursed at a BND photographer. She’s charged with first degree murder in the suffocation death of her 4-year-old daughter, Emily Rose Perrin, who suffered from cystic fibrosis. Lockett has four other children.

▪  Randy McCallum Jr. of Alorton was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences Thursday afternoon for two murders in Washington Park.

McCallum, 26, the son of Randy McCallum Sr., the former mayor of Alorton, was convicted in February on two counts of first-degree murder for the Sept. 19, 2009, killings of Charles Black and Kevin McVay Jr. in Washington Park.

▪  A memorial filled with flowers and balloons sat outside the home of a 4-year-old Dupo girl who died. Her mother, Mary Lockett, was charged with murder in the girl’s death.
