▪ A Dupo woman in the St. Clair County jail, accused of murdering her four-year-old daughter claims that Jesus told her to commit the crime.
“Jesus came along with dark angels,” Mary Lockett allegedly told police when they arrived to investigate the case.
Locket was naked, on top of Emily Rose Perrin with one hand pressed over the girl’s mouth and a dog leash in the other hand when her roomate returned home from a trip to buy marijuana, police said.
▪ Family members and students at Belleville East High School are in shock and mourning after the death of a popular counselor.
Chyriell Drain-Hill, 58, went to an area hospital with trouble breathing and concerns she was having heart trouble. But she seemed stable as she went through tests -- until she suddenly passed away without warning.
Students are planning a memorial service.
▪ A New York newspaper has created controversy by alleging St. Louis Cardinals fans showered Chicago Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward with racial insults.
The supposed attack was debunked by Heyward and by ESPN, which broadcast the game.
