Wildey to show ‘Purple Rain’ to honor life of Prince
The Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville will show the 1984 film “Purple Rain” to commemorate the life of Prince, the legendary singer and musician who died Thursday at age 57.
Show time is 7 p.m. Friday. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $4, payable by cash or check only (no online sales). They will go on sale at noon Friday at the box office. Credit cards will be accepted for beer, wine, popcorn and other concession items.
“Purple Rain” is a rock musical drama that was developed to showcase Prince’s talents. It has several extended concert sequences. The film won an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score and became something of a cult classic.
