The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has announced the popular recreation site in Granite City will be shuttered until state funding is restored.

The lack of cash flow caused electrical service to be cut off and operators can’t afford to pay for trash pick up.

▪  St. Clair County Republicans are distancing themselves from state representative candidate Bob Romanik.

Members of the St. Clair County Republican Central Committee censured Romanik for use of profane language, a verbal assault against Ronald Duebbert and making false statements against Republican leaders.

Romanik dismissed the censure calling Republican leaders “idiots.” He accused them of failing conservatives in the metro-east and said only voters have the power to judge his candidacy.

The Shelter Buddy program at the Humane Society of Missouri, brings children into kennels where the kids get practice reading and the animals get some much-needed companionship.
