East St. Louis man charged with killing two nearly a year ago
An East St. Louis man has been charged with killing two men who were in a vehicle that had been carjacked last summer.
Tony Townsend was charged by St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly with two counts of first-degree in the shooting deaths of Isaac Monigan, 19, and Robert Burrow, 20.
The charges came after Illinois State Police conducted a police investigation that led them to Townsend.
Police arrived at 12:32 a.m. June 24 in the 2500 block of Ridge Avenue and found Monigan and Burrow dead inside an SUV.
Townsend is being held in the Clair County Jail on $900,000 bail.
