A 59-year-old Alton man was charged Friday with three counts of distributing child pornography between Oct. 2015 and March, according to a press release issued by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Capt. T. Mike Dixon said investigators with the sheriff’s office received information on April 21 linking the address of 4901 Cinderella Drive in Alton with the distribution of child pornography. The suspect living at the address was identified as Michael E. Myers in an arrest warrant provided by authorities.

Based upon the evidence developed during the initial investigation, Dixon said a search warrant was obtained. Authorities seized electronic computer devices and media during the search on Thursday. Evidence developed in the investigation allegedly revealed that the suspect, Myers, was involved in the distribution of child pornography depicting images of a male child under the age of 13 engaging in sexual acts with an adult male.

Myers was at home at the time of the search and was taken into custody, pending further investigative efforts, Dixon said. He was transported to the Madison County Jail and remains in custody as of Friday. Bail amount for Myers was set at $300,000 by Judge Jennifer Hightower.
