Don’t Miss This: Worker burned in Maryville explosion dies

▪ A worker who was severely burned during an explosion in Maryville has due to his injuries.

John D. Behme, 44, of Worder, died Friday in the burn unit at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

Behme was working with Keller Construction April 6 when a 10-inch gas line was struck during an excavation project, igniting a massive fireball.

▪ A Brooklyn man has been accused of threatening the life of St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly.

Travis Withers, 27, was charged with a felony count of threatening a public official.

According to court documents, Withers made “a communication containing a threat to take Brendan Kelly’s life, placing him in reasonable apprehension of immediate or future bodily harm, and the threat was conveyed because of the hostility of the defendant toward the position of Brendan Kelly as St. Clair County state’s attorney.”

Withers was also charged with a felony count of aggravated battery for allegedly throwing a piece of hose at a police officer and a misdemeanor charge of resisting a peace officer for allegedly pulling away from police as he was being handcuffed.
