Associated Bank robbed in East St. Louis; police capture suspect

A bank robbery suspect was nabbed shortly after he robbed the Associated Bank on Collinsville Avenue at Missouri Avenue on Monday morning.

East St. Louis Police and federal agents are handling the investigation. The suspect’s name has not been released pending formal charges. East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Hubbard said police were called at 9 a.m. in regards to the robbery.

“Thanks to the quick police response, officers were able to gather information from our dispatchers and bank employees that led to a swift apprehension of the suspect a short time after the robbery,” Hubbard said.

An undetermined amount of money was recovered, according to police.
