SWIC salaries now on Public Pay Database

Public employee salaries at Southwestern Illinois College are now online at the Belleville News-Democrat’s public pay database, which you can find at www.bnd.com/publicpay.

The new records — 1,870 in all — show a detailed picture of the salary and extra-pay amounts for 2015; however, employee benefits like insurance and retirement are not included in the figures.

The salaries are for employees at SWIC’s three campuses in Belleville, Granite City and Red Bud.

The top earner at SWIC was college President Georgia Costello, who made $202,766.64, including a base salary of $168,406.08 and $34,360.56 in other pay. That comes to $97.48 an hour — the highest on campus for a full-time, 2,080-hour work year.

Additionally, the data shows that SWIC relied on 329 adjunct faculty, who all worked fewer than 30 hours a week, for nearly 150,000 hours of work, whereas 153 faculty workers logged about 315,000 hours.

The BND’s public pay database lists the latest taxpayer-paid salaries for public employees. In most cases, these are what the employees made in 2015, the latest figures available. It is updated once or twice a week.

The database already includes six counties, about half a dozen cities or towns and a dozen local school districts.
