Sun and warmer temperatures Friday and Saturday

Sunny skies and much warmer temperatures are in the forecast for Friday across the metro-east.

The high will be 79, according to the National Weather Service. That’s about six degrees warmer than the average high for this time of May in the St. Louis metropolitan area, 73. The temperature has been below average since last weekend with highs the past several days in the 60s.

Friday night, skies will be clear with a low of 57.

It will be even warmer Saturday with an expected high of 84. Skies will be sunny in the morning with a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms creeping into the forecast after 1 p.m.

The chance of thunderstorms will increase to 40 percent Saturday night when the low will be 56.

The chance of storms will remain at 40 percent Sunday when the high will be 77.

The likelihood of storms will increase to 50 percent Sunday night when the low will be 60.

The work week will likely get a wet start with a 60 percent chance of storms Monday, a 50 percent chance Tuesday and a 30 percent chance Wednesday.
