Don’t Miss This: Belleville East students, parents get a scare when fleeing suspect comes to campus

▪ Belleville East students and their parents got a scare Thursday when a robbery suspect being chased by police drove onto campus and tried to hide.

A swarm of police officers descended upon the school after a call for all available units to report to the area. The campus was locked down creating a concerning scene.

But officers were able to quickly find the suspect and take him into custody.

▪ The McKinley Bridge was closed for much of the morning rush hour Thursday after a suspect got into a shoot-out with police on an approach to the span.

The incident started with a traffic stop in Venice and ended with a police cruiser pushed up against the suspect’s spun out car on the bridge.

▪ A 19-year-old East St. Louis man has been charged with first degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting.

Alan Davis is accused of murdering John Middlebrooks III April 17 in the 3900 block of State Street.

Davis was held in the St. Clair County Jail on $500,000 bond.
