Police say a 50-year-old Belleville woman stole a wallet from a customer at Dierbergs in Shiloh and used the victim’s credit card at several other locations.

St. Clair County prosecutors on Tuesday charged Pamela D. Jenkins with felony theft, unlawful use of a credit card and retail theft.

Shiloh Police Detective Sgt. Jesse Phillips gave the following account:

Police were called May 1 to Dierbergs for a report of a wallet stolen from a customer. Police learned that the victim’s credit card was subsequently used at several other businesses in the area.

While investigating the Dierbergs case, Shiloh police were called May 8 to a report of a retail theft at Target. Police determined that the suspect in the Target case was connected to the Dierbergs case.

Police said Jenkins has previous arrests for retail theft, and was free on bond in one case involving a March 13 theft in Shiloh.

Jenkins was being held Thursday at the St. Clair County Jail with bail set at $55,000.
