Chance of severe weather Friday night during Art on the Square

A 50 percent chance of severe weather remains in the forecast for the metro-east Friday night, when Art on the Square begins its three-day stay in downtown Belleville, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a chance of thunderstorms in Belleville mainly between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. Skies will be cloudy to partly cloudy with a low temperature around 47.

There is a moderate chance storms could become severe with the possibility of large hail and damaging winds affecting parts of west central and southwest Illinois as well as eastern and central Missouri.

The sun will return again Saturday for Art on the Square’s first full day of scheduled events. But the temperature will be much cooler with a high of 60. That’s 15 degrees cooler than the average high temperature of 75 for mid-May in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

It will be mostly clear Saturday night with a low of 42.

Skies will be sunny with a high of 65 Sunday. Clouds will move into the area Sunday night when the low will be 65.
