Two students injured in Millstadt school bus crash
Two students from Millstadt Consolidated School District 160 were taken to a hospital Thursday morning after their school bus was back-ended by a box truck on Imbs Station Road.
According to school Superintendent Jon Green, the bus was stopped to make a left turn in the 2800 block of Imbs Station Road about 7:40 a.m. when the truck struck the bus from behind. The truck is owned by Custom Pools Inc.
There were at least 100 feet of skid marks leading to the point of the collision.
Green said several students banged their heads from the impact of the collision, and they were taken from the scene by ambulance as a precaution. There were 14 students on the bus, Green said.
“We have a couple precautionary things,” Green said about the injuries. “Anybody who had a headache or anything or like that needed to be checked out.”
The impact left the front, left corner of the Ford truck crushed to the windshield. After the collision the truck veered off the road, into a cornfield.
As of 9 a.m. Imbs Station Road was closed as a tow truck attempted to pull the truck from the field.
