Allegiant to hold drawing for two free flights to Destin, Florida

On a day when Allegiant Air starts a new route out of MidAmerica Aiport, the low-cost airline plans to a hold a free flight giveaway.

A drawing for two roundtrip tickets to Destin/Fort Walton Beach is scheduled for Friday, May 27, at St. Clair Square in Fairview Heights. People will be able to enter the drawing from noon to 2 p.m. at the mall in the lower level of the center court. The drawing is scheduled to take place about 2:15 p.m.

Winners of the drawing will be notified via email, according to contest rules.

The grand prize includes two roundtrip tickets on the inaugural flight from MidAmerica to Destin/Fort Walton Beach. The outbound flight is scheduled for June 2, and the return flight would be June 5.

Allegiant also starts flights to Jacksonville from MidAmerica on May 27.

As part of the contest, Allegiant also plans to draw names for 10 $200 vouchers for future flights to any destination Allegiant flies to from MidAmerica, said Krysta Levy, a public relations specialist for the airline.

“We wanted to have the opportunity to celebrate both inaugural flights,” Levy said.

Levy said sales for the flights have been good, but could not share specific figures.

“We’re excited to have Allegiant offering convenient, affordable, direct service to these two terrific new Florida destinations so local residents have even more options to take the easy way out to Florida,” said Mark Kern, St. Clair County Board chairman. “With several chances to win, we hope people take advantage of the opportunity to be a part of the excitement surrounding the inaugural flights.”

In February, as part of Allegiant’s kickoff of flights from MidAmerica to Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers, the airline held a drawing for free roundtrip tickets as well.
