Coming soon: A second Horseshoe Restaurant and Lounge
The owners of the landmark Horseshoe Restaurant and Lounge in Collinsville plan to open a second Horseshoe in O’Fallon in the coming weeks, according to John Eichenlaub of the BarberMurphy Group.
O’Fallon Community Development Director Ted Shekell confirmed the news Monday, saying the owners have applied for business and liquor licenses and an occupancy permit.
The second Horseshoe will be located at 950 Talon Drive in O’Fallon in a building that most recently housed the Aspen Lounge and formerly housed Jersey’s.
Work is ongoing at the site, including roof repairs, parking lot resurfacing and some interior work.
Bernie Clardy, who along with his wife Charlie owns the Collinsville Horseshoe and also owns the O’Fallon venture along with another couple, was not immediately available for comment Monday.
The Clardy’s reopened a reinvented Horseshoe Restaurant and Lounge at 410 St. Louis Road in Collinsville in 2014. Shekell said he’s sure that what the Clardy’s did in Collinsville will resurrect what has been an underutilized building in O’Fallon.
“Looking forward to them being here, we hope they’re successful here,” Shekell said. “It’ll be nice to have that old building brought back to life. It’s been vacant for at least a year and underutilized for several years. This time it’s going to stick.”
