One dead after I-64 motorcycle crash on Memorial Day

A 40-year-old man passed away Monday afternoon after he crashed his motorcycle on Interstate 64.

The St. Clair County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as Jeremiah M. Weaver.

Weaver, of Winchester, Mo., was driving a 2014 Suzuki motorcycle traveling westbound on Interstate 64. The fatal crash happened around 4:54 p.m. on Memorial Day at mile marker 2.8 in East St. Louis.

Illinois State Police said a preliminary investigation showed that the driver, Weaver, lost control of the motorcycle for unknown reasons and was ejected. Weaver was found dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
