The salaries of public employees who work for the cities of Collinsville, Alton, Carlyle, Chester and Red Bud can now be found online in the BND’s Public Pay Database.
The database can be found at bnd.com/publicpay.
Besides current salaries, pay information since 2011 is also available, although all of the numbers provided should be taken as approximations. This is because some towns keep salary information differently. For example, some might include vacation benefits, while others may not.
The database also doesn’t include retirement or insurance benefits — two big components of a worker’s compensation.
The salary information is from the most recent completed reporting period. The News-Democrat asked for numbers from either the 2015 calendar year or fiscal year, which usually runs from July to June, so the time periods to compare many government districts may differ.
The database already contains salary information for other large cities in the metro-east, including Belleville and O’Fallon, plus six regional counties, assorted school districts, and Southwestern Illinois College and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
