O’Fallon woman faces felony after striking mother

An O’Fallon woman faces four counts of felony aggravated battery after police said she struck her mother in the face, nose, arm and chest.

Alicia D. Constantine, 44, was charged on Tuesday.

O’Fallon Police Lt. Jim Cavins said police were called to the 200 block of Ellen Lane about 9:20 p.m. on Monday for a domestic disturbance.

The victim, a 62-year-old woman, was not seriously injured and refused emergency medical transportation.

Under Illinois law, the felony is enhanced when the victim is older than 60 years old.

Constantine was taken into custody and is being held on $50,000 bail at the St. Clair County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 10.

Constantine has no previous felony convictions. If she is convicted, she could face two to five years in prison.
