The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis is continuing its investigation into a double shooting that killed one man and injured another early Tuesday in Madison.

Lt. Mike Nordstrom, serving as deputy commander of Major Case Squad, said Wednesday that the survivor of the shooting, 23-year-old James A. Moore, was in stable condition. Authorities said Tuesday that Moore was rushed to a St. Louis hospital after the shooting.

The Madison Police Department received a report of two people shot at approximately 12:50 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Seventh Street and Alton Avenue.

The man who was killed Tuesday was identified as 31-year-old Roderick D. Williams. Williams was taken to a St. Louis hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Both Williams and Moore were residents of Madison.

Nordstrom said authorities did not have any further updates Wednesday afternoon on the investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting can contact the St. Louis Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-866-371-8477. A $5,000 cash reward was put up for information leading to an arrest and conviction, according to Nordstrom.
