Summer weather arrives early in the metro-east

Sunny skies and a high temperature of 88 are expected Thursday across the metro-east.

But summer is going to arrive early this weekend, when temperatures will be in the mid 90s and the heat index will near the 100 degree mark, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a slight chance of a thunderstorm Thursday night when the low will be 68. The mostly likely time for rain will be before 9 p.m. After that skies will beging to clear up.

On Friday it will be sunny with a high of 90 and a breeze from the south at up to 8 mph.

Friday night, it will be clear with a low of 69.

It will be muggy and hot both Saturday and Sunday with a high both days of 94 and a heat index nearing 100.

Skies will be sunny Saturday with a breeze of 5-9 mph from the southwest.

Overnight Saturday, the low will be 73.

On Sunday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The low will be 73 Sunday night.
