Metro-East News

How hot is it really? We probably won’t break record today

It’s going to be a hot one Wednesday.

But it looks like the mercury will fall just shy of the St. Louis-area record high temperature of 102 for June 22 that has stood since 1930.

According to the National Weather Service, the high will reach 99 on Wednesday in the metro-east. But it could get all the way up to 101 in St. Louis and points west.

On this date in 2015, the temperature was 93, six degrees warmer than the average high for the date, 87.

The record low for June 22 in the area is 66, set in 1936.

While it’s been hot lately, this year has actually been cooler than usual, with an average maximum daily temperature of 63.8. The record through June 22 is 67.9, set in 2012.

The lowest average high temperature through this date was 52.9, set in 1978.
